Buying diapers online is no longer just a convenience; it has become the most practical way to manage one of the most repetitive expenses of a baby's first years. It saves trips to the supermarket with a 5 kg pack under your arm, lets you compare the price per diaper calmly and makes sure the box arrives at your door before your reserve runs out. This guide explains what to check before ordering, how delivery works in our shop and how to organise your purchases so you never run out of diapers.
Why it is worth buying diapers online
There are four practical reasons, and none of them is "because it is modern":
- Lower price per diaper. Online, it is easy to buy large boxes, which cost 20 to 45% less per unit than small supermarket packs. We did the maths in our article on cheap diapers in Portugal.
- Comparison without the rush. In a physical shop you compare the price of the pack; online you compare the price per diaper, the composition and reviews from other families.
- Weight and bulk. A month of diapers for a newborn is around 270 diapers. Nobody wants to carry that from the car park.
- Predictability. Ordering on the same day each month, with the same quantity, eliminates emergency purchases (which are the most expensive).
What to check before buying diapers online
1. The price per diaper, not the price of the pack
This is rule number one. Divide the price by the number of units. In our shop we show the unit price under each product precisely to save you this calculation. A pack of 58 Dodot Sensitive Size 2 at €14.93 works out at €0.26 per diaper; the pack of 174 at €40.80 works out at €0.23.
2. The right size for your baby's current weight
Buying online without seeing the diaper means paying attention to the weight range. If your baby is at the upper limit of the size, buy a small quantity or move straight to the next size. Our guide on how to choose the right diaper size explains the signs that it is time to change.
3. Shipping cost relative to the order value
Shipping of €4.80 on a €15 pack adds 32%; on a €50 box it adds less than 10%; on an order of two boxes it adds 5%. Because shipping is a flat rate, the bigger the order, the smaller the share of shipping in the final price of each diaper. Adding baby wipes or a second box to the same order is almost always a good idea.
4. Real delivery time
A shop that dispatches within 24 hours and delivers in 48 is different from a marketplace where the seller is in another country. If your reserve is running low, this point is decisive.
5. Reviews from other families
Reviews tell you what the description does not: whether the diaper leaks at night, whether it marks the skin, whether the size matches what is advertised. Look for reviews of the exact product, not the brand in general.
6. Sealed packaging and batch
On marketplaces with third-party sellers, check that the pack arrives sealed and within its use-by period. Diapers stored in poor conditions lose absorbency.

| Rest of Europe | DPD, home delivery | €9.90 |
Shipping is a flat rate, regardless of weight and number of boxes. Products in stock are dispatched within 24 hours and deliveries to mainland Portugal usually arrive within 48 hours. All orders come with a tracking number, sent by email when the order is dispatched. Full conditions are in our shipping policy.
A practical tip: since shipping does not change with weight, an order of two large boxes (for example, a box of 186 Dodot Bebé-Seco Size 3 at €32.69 plus a box of 248 Dodot Bebé-Seco Extra Absorption Size 4+ at €77.80) pays the same €4.80 as a small pack. For families with twins or two children in diapers, it is the cheapest way to buy: shipping works out at around 1 cent per diaper.
Buying newborn diapers online
In the first few days, the rules change a little. Your baby uses 8 to 10 diapers a day, may be born at a different weight than expected and grows fast. Our recommendation: before the birth, buy a small quantity of Size 1 (a pack of 25 to 44 units is enough for the first week) and only buy the large pack once you know your baby's weight and have seen how the diaper fits. We explain the quantities in how many diapers to buy before the birth and how to choose the diaper in how to choose the best diaper for a newborn. With dispatch within 24 hours, ordering from the maternity ward is perfectly feasible.
How to organise your purchases so you never run out of diapers
- Know your daily use. Count the diapers over three days and work out the average. A 6-month-old baby uses around 6 a day.
- Set a 7-day safety reserve. When your reserve reaches that level, it is time to order.
- Order 4 to 6 weeks at a time. That is the quantity that takes advantage of large-box pricing without the risk of your baby changing size halfway through.
- Add baby wipes to the same order. Since shipping is a flat rate, it costs you nothing extra, and you avoid a second emergency purchase. Our WaterWipes baby wipes and Dodot baby wipes collections have monthly packs.
- Mark it on your calendar. A monthly reminder on your phone solves 90% of the scares.
Is it safe to buy diapers online?
Yes, as long as you buy from an identifiable shop with a visible address, contact details and policies. At comprarfraldas.pt you will find all of this, plus our contact page and the email address info@worlddiapers.com for any questions before or after your purchase.
